Is this the same as an apprenticeship?
No. This is a pre-apprenticeship program — it prepares you for an apprenticeship or entry-level job in carpentry. It gives you the foundational knowledge to enter the field with confidence.

What is the Reach Back Skills Development Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship Program?
This is an online training program designed to prepare students for entry-level opportunities in the carpentry and construction fields. The course introduces basic tools, measurements, safety, math, blueprint reading, and essential soft skills for success on real-world jobsites.
Is this program completely online?
Yes. The entire program is 100% online — including lessons, videos, quizzes, and assignments. You can complete the training from any device with internet access.
How long does the program take to complete?
The online course is designed to be completed in 4 weeks, but students may work at their own pace as long as they meet deadlines set by their instructor.
Who can enroll in the program?
Anyone aged 15 and older can apply. Students under 18 will need a parent or guardian consent form before participating.
How much does it cost?
The program is free for a limited time. There are no tuition fees or material costs during this promotional period.
When does the next class start?
The next online session begins November 18, 2025. Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
What materials or tools do I need?
You’ll need access to a computer or smartphone, a stable internet connection, and a notebook for taking notes. Safety glasses are required during certain lessons for demonstrations and project simulations.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the program?
Yes. Students who successfully complete the course and pass all modules with a minimum score of 75% will receive a Certificate of Completion from Reach Back Skills Development Inc.
Will this program help me get a job?
Yes. The program equips you with the skills and knowledge employers look for. It also connects students with career resources, resume support, and guidance for entering union or non-union apprenticeship programs.
Can I take this course if I live outside of North Carolina?
Absolutely. Since the program is online, it is open to students nationwide.
